EXGEL cushions have had 20 years of success as wheelchair cushions. They are highly acclaimed for their effectiveness in body pressure distribution and bedsore prevention.
When seated in a wheelchair for a long period of time, people complain of buttocks pain and gradual sliding of the buttocks to the front. The EXGEL OWL CUSHION features six types of cushions to match the body type and condition of the user.
EXGEL OWL CUSHION REGULAR is highly recommended for those who can support their torso on their own and can use foot-propelled or low-seat wheelchairs.
The surface supports the body to maintain a comfortable sitting experience.
It effectively reduces pressure on the ischium area, where pressure easily concentrates if an ordinary cushion is used, as well as the area from the coccyx to the sacral. It evenly distributes pressure all the way to your thighs, providing a comfortable sitting experience anytime you sit.
An owl pattern that continuously and gently cradles the body
One of the features of the EXGEL OWL CUSHION is its owl pattern design.
This design enables continuous support of the body—the owl eyes cradle the ischium area, the owl slit reduces the pressure exerted on the area from the coccyx to the sacral, and the owl feathers form elevated edges to ensure support.

The extremely soft EXGEL provides cradling support to the ischium area.
It is an excellent gel material that resists deterioration over time and enables sitting without bottoming out.

The shape of the cushion, together with its curves, conforms to the body and allows for breathability.
Stretchable material that fits your body
The surface material is made from high-quality synthetic leather that is very supple and stretchable. It brings out the most of the soft feel of EXGEL.
*Dirt and stains can be wiped away with water, detergent, or alcohol.
A simple design that needs no adjustments
This cushion does not require any difficult adjustments.
It just needs to be set on the wheelchair before use.
Different sizes are available to match the size of the wheelchair (400mm/380mm/360mm wide).
Safe to use in caregiving settings
The accompanying stretchable cover uses a smooth fabric that prevents sweating. The bottom features an insulating layer, as well as a waterproofing film for protection against incontinence. The material used for the cover has passed the flammability standard for medical devices in the US (California Technical Bulletin 117).
Slip-resistant bottom
The bottom of the cover features a slip-resistant design that prevents the cushion from sliding off and supports a stable sitting position.
Label to identify the front and back
The cover has a label placed in a conspicuous location in order to prevent misusing.

SUPPORT
Performance: Vertical Force
When you sit for extended periods, you constantly apply a vertical force on your buttocks.
EXGEL demonstrated over 10 times the impact absorption performance of standard urethane foam in in-house tests.
It gently absorbs and distributes the shock from when you first sit down and the pressure when you sit for extended periods.
A golf ball is dropped from a 1-meter height. The ball bounces about half that height when dropped onto urethane foam; with EXGEL, the ball barely bounces at all, and the impact is absorbed.
Demonstration: Lateral Force
The body unconsciously and repeatedly shifts when we sit.
Tests of this lateral shifting showed that EXGEL can reduce the pressure on the buttocks because the gel freely moves along with the movement of the buttocks.
When a peach is pressed and moved sideways on urethane foam, its skin gets damaged from the friction produced; with EXGEL, no damage occurs.
Demonstration: Force Distribution
Pressure concentrates in a single spot when we sit, which leads to fatigue or pain.
EXGEL is an extremely flexible material
that redistributes the body pressure and alleviates a burden.
The optimal combination of EXGEL and urethane foam
This cushion combines the fluidity of EXGEL and the lightness of urethane foam in a layered structure. It contains high-quality urethane foam for lightness while maximizing the qualities of EXGEL. This was developed with the goal of creating top-of-the-line cushions for wheelchairs.
